[07:39]<+camerongray> BC_Programming: I'm here
[07:39]<+camerongray> As far as the optical drive goes - Get the cheapest
[07:39]<+camerongray> When I buy a DVD drive - I look at 2 things - The price, and how it looks :P
[07:40]<@BC_Programming> yeah I'll probably have plenty, looks like they run maybe 20 dollars or so
[07:40]<+camerongray> Yeah, it's not worth spending a lot on
[07:40]<@BC_Programming> or I could get a PCI-E IDE Controller card, haha
[07:40]<+camerongray> If you do that, both Calum and I will kill puppies
[07:41]<@BC_Programming> I think it is, personally, having a DVD drive, that is. Preferably I'd like something at least equal to the drive I'm using now
[07:41]<+camerongray> What do you have now?
[07:41]<+camerongray> There is really nothing between them nowadays
[07:42]<@BC_Programming> DVD DL Burner with lightscribe
[07:42]<+camerongray> Yeah, Lightscribe is the only thing you may need to look for
[07:42]<+camerongray> But IIRC, it's pretty much dead now
[07:42]<@BC_Programming> aww I thought it was neat
[07:43]<+camerongray> As in, the company are gone
[07:43]<+camerongray> Yeah - I liked it
[07:43]<@BC_Programming> Actually now that I think of it though, I could still use this drive, since I have an external Optical Drive enclosure I could use, and it should show up and boot from USB
[07:43]<+camerongray> Yeah
[07:44]<@BC_Programming> that'll do in a pinch if necessary
[07:44]<+camerongray> This is the cheapest one they have an will do fine: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8528704&CatId=89
[07:45]<@BC_Programming> what is M-Disc
[07:45]<+camerongray> Marketing crap I imagine :P
[07:45]<@BC_Programming> probably like SecuDisc or whatever
[07:46]<+camerongray> It's not like a few years ago where companies really marketed DVD drives and packed them with features - Nowadays they are just boring
[07:46]<@BC_Programming> or maybe it's Mo Disc, as in Mo Discs more problems
[07:46]<+camerongray> haha
[07:46]<@BC_Programming> heh my favourite part about the drive is the picture
[07:46]<@BC_Programming> primarily the Disc is in upside down
[07:46]<+camerongray> haha yeah
[07:47]<+camerongray> I mean, The only DVD drives I ever see really now are OEM and just come in a little plastic bag - Not like they used to be in a big box full of bits of paper
[07:47]<+camerongray> "The M-DISC"uses a patent rock-like recording surface instead of organic dye to etch your data onto a disc. The M-DISC has been tested and proven to outlast standard DVDs currently on the market."
[07:47]<+camerongray> So yeah, marketing :P
[07:48]<@BC_Programming> yeah that's pretty much the same as mine sans lightscribe as far as I can tell. I Don't use it often anyway, though... lightscribe, that is
[07:48]<+camerongray> Yeah
[07:48]<@BC_Programming> I Still use my Drive to play Audio CDs funnily enough
[07:48]<+camerongray> I used to use Lightscribe but the disks were expensive
[07:49]<+camerongray> Now I use this magical labeling technology called Sharpie :P
[07:49]<@BC_Programming> heh
[07:51]<@BC_Programming> added that to the list
[07:51]<@BC_Programming> can't use the shopping cart apparently seems to clear it after a day or two for no reason
[07:52]<@BC_Programming> Oh I see, the new thang is Blu-Ray, so DVD Drives are cheap as CD-ROM drives were when DVDs came out
[07:59]<+camerongray> yeah
[08:01]<@BC_Programming> Good to go then, just need to wait for it to be in my paypal and wait for the beast to arrive
[08:01]<@BC_Programming> sadly the case and components never arrive on the same day
[08:01]<+camerongray> ahh lol
[08:02]<@BC_Programming> transfers are a pain
